Auditions for a play on the story of the Netherley Flats

Auditions take place for “They All Came Tumbling Down: the Story of the Netherley Flats” on Monday 8th May at Valley Theatre.

The struggle of the Netherley Flat Dwellers Action Group firstly, to improve the conditions for tenants unfortunate enough to have to live in the notorious 70s built flats and then eventually to have them demolished achieved national recognition as one of the best grass-roots activist campaigns of its time.

Their pioneering campaign of direct action forced the “Corpie” to face up to the nightmare of living in badly thought out and constructed homes and forced a rethink on cheap, council housing.

This play (scheduled for early August at Valley Theatre, in the heart of the area where it all happened) uses the ensemble style of the famous 7:84 Theatre Company to tell the story in a funny, entertaining way, with song, poetry and comedy as well as drama.
Actors are wanted who are interested in this style of drama and who see the importance of the subject matter. There is no payment for performance and new and experienced actors are welcome.

No need to bring anything to the audition but yourself. Time will be given to look over the short pieces to be used which will give a good idea of the style of the whole piece.

Auditions: Monday 8th May 7pm at Valley Theatre, Childwall Valley Road, L27 3YA
