New for Liverpool Pride: Queer Creatives Networking Night

New for Liverpool Pride: Queer Creatives Networking Night

The Brink, Parr Street
27th July 2016

Converse, conspire and collaborate at a unique networking event in partnership with Liverpool Pride.

On the evening of 27th July, The Brink on Parr Street in Liverpool city centre will see a diversity of creativity descend on it.

Produced by Salt Water Poetry, ‘Queer Creatives’ is the first networking event produced of its kind to be held at Brink, and caters for LGBTQI+ artists, writers, musicians and creators of any sort, aiming to provide an artistic forum for new ideas.

The evening will start at 7pm and feature live performances by some of Liverpool’s best spoken word artists, music, talks and workshops focused on wellbeing. There is a suggested donation of £6 towards the production of the evening.

Salt Water Poetry, known among friends as Lyndsay Price, has produced many events and interactive workshops previously, from theatre and performance art to, most recently, Rhymes and Records, a monthly poetry and spoken word evening held at Jacaranda Records.

An advocate for supporting artists in Liverpool, Lyndsay writes on her website: “The message I would like to convey is that your words have power and your words have beauty. I want people to experience how they can turn their words into art and trust in their own creative vision, whatever it is.” She adds: “Queer Creatives networking night is a chance for people to get together with like minded people in a safe, creative place and realise what they could achieve.”

The Brink is a community run restaurant and bar; famously Liverpool’s first dry bar. It serves no alcohol and is no stranger to holding events. Proclaimed as ‘revolutionary’ by many of its regulars, Brink provides a welcoming, intelligent and of course creative space where all walks of life can socialise. They work closely with local artists and performers to put on a wide range of inspirational events. All profits made at Brink go directly back into the community to support people who have suffered through alcoholism and addiction.

Liverpool Pride was formed in 2010 as a charity, and is led entirely by volunteers working to combat prejudice against the LGBT community, not just in Liverpool. A multitude of events celebrating Pride happen every summer in the city and Queer Creatives hopes to finds its place amongst them.
