"Three Photographers" Exhibition

08 Place, Whitechapel
16th December 2010 - 13th March 2011

Reviewed by Ross O'Toole

As imaginative as the name suggests, this modest exhibition consisted of four photographs each from three photographers. Simon Parker's monotone exposures of landscapes were visually appealing and well composed, if somewhat conventional.

The next four photographs featured straightforward shots of modern buildings, apparently taken in Manchester. They were matter of fact in their composition, lacking style and content.

The last assortment of photographs employed partial colour: a technique used to highlight a certain element in a photograph by removing the colour from the rest of the frame. This technique is something of a cliché in photography, and in this case, the use of it failed to enhance the images, which were uninspiring and thus commensurate with the overall exhibition.

If you have a keen interest in photography, then by all means have a look, if only for a quick glance. The exhibition is conveniently located at on Whitechapel at the 08 Place centre, but don't expect anything groundbreaking.
