Although the duo of AL and AL won the Liverpool Art Prize 09, held in a ceremony at the Contemporary Urban Centre, I was more delighted that Elizabeth Willow was named as winner of the People's Choice award.

She did so having collected more votes than the other five contenders from visitors to the CUC exhibition, at the CUC showcasing the shortlisted artists, which was curated by Tomas Harold.

The other contenders were Richard Meaghan, Nicki McCubbing, McCoy Wynne and Terry Duffy.

The work of AL and AL is a video installation featuring CGI imaging, while Willow uses an assortment of found objects, antiques, as well as other items, as part of her installation and sculptures.

Al and Al picked up £2,000, with Willow receiving £1,000.

Her work is currently on show in an exhibition titled 'Flight Of Fancy', at the Atelier gallery on Lark Lane. It is a fascinating installation of whimsical objects, which also features birdsong. It runs until 16 May.

The Liverpool Art Prize, which is in its second year, was organised by Ian and Minako Jackson from artinliverpool.com
