Art of Glass

By Colin Serjent

Turning recycled glass into art is one of the main strands of the work of Energywise Recycled Glass, a Liverpool based social enterprise company.
Their products are 100% recycled using a kiln-formed process.
"We recycle window glass and bottles we collect from homes, restaurants and weddings," said community art glass technician Emma-Jane Trivett, "by reprocessing them into what we believe to be unique and stylish products.
"The staff, the majority of whom have been in long-term unemployment, come through a series of training schemes from the local area," she added, "and we like to see people buying back their 'rubbish' in a more beautiful format than they last saw it.
"We try to showcase our work, demonstrating that given the right facilities people's waste can be recycled into something gorgeous with green integrity."
ERG aim to raise awareness of recycling in Liverpool and to encourage people to buy recycled products whenever possible.
As well as the product range they produce, ERG also offer community arts programmes and workshop packages related to recycling issues.
