Friog Rocks by Tony GriffithsCollidoscope

By Colin Serjent

A new artist group, Collidoscope, comprised of artists from the North-West of England including Merseyside, was formed at the end of last year, and held their first exhibition during March at the Liverpool Academy of Arts.

The range of work they exhibit covers landscape and portrait paintings, photography and ceramics.

"In the beginning the common thread of the group was the development of colour and tone," said co-founder Marie McGowan, "but the styles of the artists involved differed widely, and so the notion of a collision of artistic media became the Collidoscope group."

As well as Marie, other members include Janet Cobbold, Dorothy Culshaw, Slyvia Garrette, Graham Gavin, Mair Griffiths, Tony Griffiths, Ann Harrison, Gail Hayes, Simon MacBryde, and Sue Yoosawai.
