Arts Happening @ The Pilgrim

Review by Caroline Black

In summer, on a wet and windy evening, the Liverpool Artist Forum and Catalyst Creative Media presented an exciting and interesting array of some of Liverpool's finest musical and poetic talent.

The event began with the cool and stylish tones of Jo-Anne Roberts accompanied by fellow guitarist Jools, followed by the exuberant flautist Louie Baccino and Jimmy Sangster (guitar).

After Alice from Neon Highway had recited some poetry, the evening was rounded off with a truly inspiring performance from guitarist and composer Neil Campbell, who can play flamenco and classical, among other styles of music.

During the evening Lesley Fraser from Catalyst and I spoke briefly on what the Artist Forum is about, why it was formed; who can join; and what the forum hopes to achieve.

Lesley informed the audience that Catalyst offers artists and writers a voice, and an opportunity to engage in debate on cultural and artistic issues in Liverpool.

I thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and others that I spoke to also did. All in all the event was a great success.

The next Artist Forum event is scheduled to be held later this year, date and venue to be confirmed.

The Artist Forum membership is open to all individual artists and creative practitioners in Liverpool. If you would like to become a member, or become more involved with the organisation of the forum,: please contact Caroline Black 0151 2367728 or email caroline.black@liverpoolcss.org.
