Pink Trees
Extract from Forth marbled Pylon

Artist Profile - Karen Adamson

I studied textile design at Leicester Polytechnic and this training enabled me to explore my love of fabrics, colour, texture, pattern and design - a love that is still continuing and developing.

I worked on craft projects for many years, having stalls at local craft fair markets (I live and work in St Helens) and returned to painting in 2003, after being inspired by a close friend who encouraged and supported me, became my muse and features in a number of my paintings. For that I have to say, 'Thank you Ray.'

I have had two solo exhibitions - one at Rainford Gallery in St Helens in 2004 and another at The World of Glass in St Helens the following year.

I have also had work exhibited at The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and in group exhibitions at the 5a Gallery, St Helens; Dukes Oaks Gallery in Sandbach; the Garden Gallery, St Helens; and at View Two Gallery in Liverpool.

I have undertaken many private commissions and run educational art workshops. I enjoy using various media and derive pleasure from experimentation. I like to include unusual techniques when I create images and enjoy the way silk colours react on fabrics. Oil paint holds a fascination for me - the manipulation and the capacity for creating tone, shade and effects.
