Don’t Let Windmill Close!

14/10/2011

Windmill Wholefoods/Liverpool Green Co-op has been given notice to quit their premises by the end of October. They thought they had a new shop lined up, but this was dependent on securing finance. Unfortunately their applications have so far been unsuccessful, even though they were given certain assurances by their own bank that they should be able to help. The upshot of this is that Windmill will be closing very soon. They are still trying to secure both new premises and finance to support the move. They are trying to spread the word about their situation to as many people as possible in the hope that they can make the most of any help that people may be happy to offer, and also to let everyone know that they are working really hard to try and save the business. They want to continue demonstrating how successful workers' co-operatives and ethically-minded retail can be.

Windmill are encouraging all their customers to keep in touch via their website www.windmillorganic.co.uk and through their Facebook pages, which will be kept up-to-date with any new info about their future.

Windmill are also hosting a couple of fundraising / awareness-raising gigs in the next couple of weeks with perhaps more to follow later. The two booked so far are:

Tuesday 18th October
Wolstenholme Creative Space
Featuring: Pine Barrens, We Came Out Like Tigers, Spitting Cobra!, The Eyes and much more in the way of DJs, stalls and raffles...
from 8pm.

Monday 24th October
Super Supper Club @ Mello Mello
Featuring: Heal The Last Stand, Sing For Your Supper, and more Jazz and Acoustic sounds.
Tickets are £5 including Supper!
Supper will be served from 7:30pm

Windmill would be hugely grateful for any help in promoting these events and spreading the word about their plight.
