Creative Industries Network

Women working in the creative industries across the North West attended the launch of a new network on Wednesday. The network - which falls under the umbrella of the Women’s Business Network - invited women involved in the creative industries to Blackburne House and gave them the opportunity to hear guest speakers and talk with other businesswomen. The Creative Industries Network’s primary purpose is to offer peer and group support as well as problem solving, information sharing, and collaboration opportunities as well as trading potential.

Liz North, co-coordinator of the network, said: “The network will also provide women working in this sector with a network that will help them take their businesses seriously and will provide training and business support to that end by working in partnership with support agencies and training organisations".

Guests were invited to join a ‘business auction’ where individuals and businesses filled in ‘I am looking for’ and ‘I am offering’ forms that included details of what support they needed or what skills they could offer. The event was concluded with a complimentary glass of wine and a chance to talk further with the organisers and fellow businesswomen. Guests were also welcomed to sign up to the network, which will continue to have bi-monthly events in May, July, September and November.
