The Soul Divas

LIPA
Saturday 22nd November

The Soul Divas are twelve beautiful women who make up an acapello choir, and quite simply, when in performance take your breath away. Most of the women have a musical background with Sense of Sound and then formed their own independent all female choir, which has been performing for around six years. Some of their venues include The Picket, this summers River Festival, the opening night of the Unity Theatre and Peter Kavanah’s, which hosted their premier performance. Saturday’s performance at LIPA was exhilarating, leaving one with a strong desire to see them perform again.

The Soul Divas describe themselves as coming from mixed backgrounds; a few are unemployed, some are students and some have perused professional careers in management and medicine. Most of them have families to attend to and welcome their weekly rehearsal as a chance to have a break from their busy lifestyles.

The women have a unique pastime and hold none of the traditional barriers that other choirs have to becoming part of their group. They have openings every autumn and welcome any women who have a genuine interest in soul music and dedication to what they do.
