Michael Moore at the Playhouse

Reviewed by Sara Newton

Michael Moore knows who we are and he knows that we agree with this view of the world. He has popped over to have a chat with us. We are his apathetic, complaint friends and he has come to give us a shake.
Americans are socially engineered idiots, what’s our excuse for letting Blair away with this scam of a war, pulled by an oil spiv, when we knew we were being lied to!
‘You’re preaching to the converted,’ shouts out a woman.
Mike engages in debate, tub-thumper and spinner all in one. British complicity gave Bush legitimacy, an impression of not acting unilaterally in the face of the UN and international law. ‘The interests of those who start a war should not be furnished by said war, should they?’ Soldiers are dying to protect oil. Enough is enough. The American press would be here for Bush’s visit and demonstrations would be a humiliation, enough to start a backlash amongst the Americans who fill stadiums to hear Michael Moore speak. We must demonstrate. We are whipped up and ready to change history.
