Backwater

Spike Theatre Company at the Unity Theatre

Reviewed by Michelle Richards

In mid November I went to see Spike Theatre Company perform ‘Backwater’ at the Unity Theatre. ‘Backwater’ is the story of a young girl growing up in a Norwegian Fjord and her journey to becoming a photographer. This journey begins with the return to the village of her absent fathers’ camera. The play itself was really good, but what I really want to rave about is the Spike Theatre Company. If you’ve never been to the theatre in the past the Spike Theatre Company can provide easy access to the magic of it all. They have their origins in street theatre. They have brought from the street a fantastic blend of physical theatre, which is energetic, athletic, dynamic and full of surprise. Check out their website www.spiketheatre.com to avoid missing future productions.
