Jo Derbyshire

Filtered through an urban upbringing, this work reflects the social and political changes affecting the artist immediate landscape.
Pieces are infused with the soul of the city, from the silver grey of rain on the concrete to the jewel like colours to be found in the stillness of a city building after hours. The work highlights the regeneration of our cities and lives, preparing it for new generations and encouraging the observer to find new ways of seeing the things that normally pass us by.
In a world that is increasingly consumer driven and becoming more violent by the day any opportunity to stand still and reflect on the beauty of everyday life is a blessing.

Jo was due to study Art and History at University but dropped out and got involved in the fringe theatre and poetry scene in Liverpool, before going back to study politics and history in Liverpool.
