Artist Profile - Paul Shiers
I'm a self taught painter born in Liverpool, and have been experimenting with paint since I was very young.
For me painting is not about creating an image of something. It's about conveying simple emotions on canvas. Colour, form and composition are everywhere in the world.
Mention drip painting to people and generally one artist springs to mind - Jackson Pollock. I really like his paintings and this is fairly obvious from my drip abstract work.
I love art in any of its forms but simple expression and use of colour move me the most.
I believe that abstract and surreal dream-like paintings give you a free way to express whatever you want.
