Artist Profile - Laura Ann Parker

Growing up with somewhat of an animal hoarder meant that my childhood was spent cultivating a love of animals, birds and nature in general.

This love continued into my adult life and has had a great influence on my work. I'm constantly aware of my natural surroundings and draw inspiration from the world around me, whether it's the colour palette of a William Morris piece, a pattern on an Art Nouveau tile or a texture on the bark of a tree.

I work mainly on a narrative basis and use folk tales from around the world to create intricate, whimsical illustrations and typography in a variety of media such as watercolour, gouache and acrylic and Indian ink.
