Jessica Prince started sticking needles in herself when she was seven-years-old. This is the first time she has created pieces of art specifically about her Type 1 diabetes.

Two of the pieces - both titled 25,725 approx. (pictured right and below left) - relate to the number of insulin injections she has done in her life.

"The monitoring of insulin versus carbohydrates, exercise, excitement, stress, illness, female hormones, time, and many other seemingly unrelated things like sunburn, make my day to day management of my diabetes a balancing act," said Jessica.

Her recent work is a result of what she describes as "an exploration into the repetitiveness, relentlessness and balancing act of the condition and how this potentially moulds personality."

She endeavours to bring art and design to whatever job she does as much as possible.

Among other jobs, Jessica currently undertakes work as a sessional worker with young offenders.
