In these three pieces I have returned to exploring fairytales and in particular fairytales which contain gardens.

Gardens in fairytales quite often signify fertility in women and are often invaded by unwanted visitors.

After being diagnosed with advanced cervical cancer in 2007, I turned my focus to gardening, taking on an allotment and nurturing fruit and vegetables. With the loss of my own fertility the garden became a replacement.

In this series of works I explore these issues through fairytales and the gardens contained in their narrative.

I have focused on the presence of the unwanted guest invading the garden and upsetting the peacefulness that is contained with it.
