Art Share

By the Art River Collective

"Parents are often overlooked in workshops and playgroups, as parents' needs always come second to their children." Says Becca Backhouse who runs 'Art Share' a celebration of everyday creativity through art, food and music run by the 'Art River Collective'. The name refers to the river running under the streets around the Garston Embassy.

"We provide parents and carers with the opportunity to be creative and share their experience in arts activities with their children in a supportive atmosphere. We want to enhance family relationships and community experience through friendship and to promote positive mental health.

"Initial sessions of 'Art Share' ran during the six-week summer holiday break, and are continuing into autumn, and hopefully 2009 if our building stays open.

'Art Share' will exhibit at The New Slaughterhouse Gallery to showcase their collective produce and hope to start selling their wares soon."

Becca Backhouse lives close to the Embassy and has three years experience working within this community.

The Garston Embassy is in Wellington Street, Garston. For more details about 'Art Share' contact Becca Backhouse at the Garston Embassy on: 0151 427 9995 or 0776 338 8509
