Back to index of Nerve 10 - Spring 2007

By John O’NeillTim Bleasdale, son of Alan, the writer of socio-political drama, has compiled a film about 9/11. He exposes what he considers to be the deliberate policy of the US government to destroy the three towers. Yes three towers, by controlled demolition, as a pretext for the invasion of Iraq. Colin Serjent interviewed him for NERVE.

9/11 - Back Door Job?

What got you involved in putting this film together?
I was intrigued to expose one of the man-made mysteries of my life.

What was your reaction when it actually happened in 2001?
What I saw was the USA being slapped in the face after they had kicked everyone else up the arse. I thought if you go around doing that to other countries, don't expect it not to happen to you. 1) It was inevitable 2) It was about time - maybe they will wake up now. I was wrong. 3000 people were sacrificed for a new World Order that day.

When did you start to get the film together?
I began to start taking critical notes. If I am going to make a film, it needs to focus on one point - unlike the film 'Loose Change', for example, in which there is a lot of information about a lot of different things, and a lot of anomalies with the information we have been fed. Because it is such a big topic, it is difficult to cover everything, so I concentrated on the actual fall of the towers. If that can work then the rest will follow.

The problem with all these films coming out about 9/11 is that it is getting more and more confusing about the issues involved.
I know exactly what you are saying. As a subject itself it is so confusing. I have collected masses of information about the fall of the towers. You see, through their conquest of Iraq and the quest for their oil, following 9/11, what the USA are really doing is not liberating the Iraqi people.Instead they are building bases in the country.

Do you think something similar to 9/11 could happen again in the USA or anywhere else?
Definitely. The USA need to implant the fear again somewhere. Additional billions of dollars would be ploughed into the arms industry. 9/11 led to far greater surveillance in operation in the USA, for example, the introduction of ID cards in the name of 'security'.

Have you tried to contact the likes of the BBC or Channel 4 to see whether they would be interested in screening your film?
No. I just wanted to do it so I could have a clear understanding of what I was learning about it. The first screening of it was at the Projection Gallery in Roscoe Street in February.

Describe the structure of the film.
It introduces you to 9/11 via all the news footage of what happened that day together with the accompaniment of ambient music. All they talk about in the newsreels is explosions, explosions, explosions. But the towers were brought down by controlled demolitions. It is physically impossible for the towers to have fallen how the 9/11 Commission report tells us they fell. They fell in nine seconds at free-fall speed, meeting no resistance on the way down. The 9/11 Commission is telling us that on this one day the laws of physics were suspended and a phenomenon never before known in structural engineering was taking place just in this exact location.

NERVE writer Adam Ford, who reviewed your film, describes the 'pulling' of a third building called 'Tower Seven'.
It came down about 5pm on 9/11. It was not hit by a plane. It fell in five seconds in exactly the manner of a controlled demolition. I have film of the collapse. The FBI and CIA had offices in that building and there were a lot of files housed there related to the Enron scandal. A lot of the Enron evidence was destroyed when the building collapsed. We also have the guy who owned that tower, Larry Silverstein of Silverstein Properties, who is quoted in Back Door Job, saying "Maybe the smartest thing to do is to pull it." It would take weeks for a controlled demolition to be prepared to destroy that type of building.
Another factor to consider in regard to the destruction of the three towers is that the owners of the properties don't have to deal with the issue of asbestos within the buildings. They were going to have to spend billions of dollars in getting rid of it.
The two main conclusions derived from my film are that elements within the USA government had foreknowledge of the attacks and consciously failed to prevent them, and also that they helped orchestrate the attacks.

Since this interview was conducted Bleasdale has made a new film about 9/11 titled 'Bringing The War Home'.
