7 Waves Community Radio

In 2003, 7 Waves Community Radio (7WCR) delivered its first broadcast and the presenters were all trained students. The radio studio is at present based in a small community centre in the heart of a housing estate on Wirral. 7WCR was funded by ESF and was a great success. We now have a bank of over 150 presenters who will be given the opportunity to broadcast again on the new frequency.

The radio station has been awarded a 5 year community licence and will be broadcasting full time from 2008. At present the students are given 4 weeks live on air to present their talents and hopefully secure employment in the media world.

7 Waves Community Radio is in the process of moving to a new purpose-built media centre alongside the existing building. The new centre will have state of the art facilities and will provide media training opportunities. In addition to the existing radio production training on offer we will be providing training courses on web design, script writing, video production, and other aspects of multi media.

7 Waves Community Radio is a platform for local bands, artistes and community groups, giving the opportunity to be heard world-wide.
