Commemorative Drama Events

To commemorative the 100th anniversary of the death of Robert Tressell, the author of the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, there is a tour around Liverpool of two dramas, One Of The Damned and 21st Century Philanthropists, plus talks by people who have been influenced by the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists.

One Of The Damned by Tom McLennan - drama focussing on Tressell's last years, in collaboration with Vauxy Theatre.

21st Century Philanthropists by Dingle Community Theatre, supported by the Co-op Community Fund. 100 years on from Robert Tressell's great socialist novel, Dingle Community Theatre present a play inspired by the book, dealing with working conditions, war and a couple of awol Liver Birds on the loose.
