The Revolution in Rojava

Saturday 4th July 2pm to 5pm
The Casa, Hope Street, L1

The situation on Northern Syria and the Kurds told through 4 short films by Rozh Ahmed, plus Kurdish speakers, music, art and poetry.

As the Syrian civil war rages, the Kurds and other ethnic groups of Rojava fight for autonomy, feminism, LGBT rights, ecological stewardship, cooperative economics, and ethnic, linguistic, and religious pluralism. Setting an example of not only how true democracy could work in the Middle East, but how we could run societies across the world.

Don’t miss out on this truly inspirational chance to hear how the people of Rojava took on the brutality of ISIS and expelled them.

Sponsored cycle ride for Rojava, Syria

Darren Guy is doing a 60 mile bike ride from Liverpool to Chester on 5th July for the charity Heyva Sor to raise much needed funds for Rojava in Syria.

"I am raising funds to try and help the people in the Rojava region of Syria. The woman and men of the area fought bravely against the lunatics of ISIS, saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of old people and children and eventually the people of Rojava forced ISIS out of the area of Kobane, but this came at a cost. They lost many of their own, and much of their land was destroyed. They are now rebuilding a democracy that is not only an example to all in the middle east, but an example to the rest of the world, an example of how ordinary people can organise their own society, without a state telling them what to do. But Finance, aid and support is desperately needed."
